Meet Rick
Marine Veteran. Small Business Owner. Proven Conservative Leader.
Born and raised in Greenwood, Missouri, Rick Brattin graduated from Lee’s Summit High School and answered the call to serve after the September 11th attacks, joining the United States Marine Corps. Over six years of service, he rose through the ranks to become a sergeant, and that sense of duty followed him home to Missouri.
He was elected to four terms in the Missouri House of Representatives, where he served as Majority Floor Whip. He then served his community as Cass County Auditor before being elected to the Missouri State Senate in 2020 and 2024. As Chairman of the Senate Education Committee, he has continued to champion the conservative causes that matter most to Missouri families – cutting taxes, defending Second Amendment rights, protecting the unborn, and fighting to keep government accountable.
Throughout his time in the legislature, Rick has consistently voted to make life more affordable by voting against tax hikes. A proven pro-life champion, he voted for legislation extending the state’s 24-hour abortion waiting period to 72 hours and backed a bill requiring parents of minors considering an abortion to receive five days’ notice. In the Senate, he has filed legislation to ban foreign ownership of land near military installations and introduced a Parents’ Bill of Rights to safeguard parental authority over their children’s education and upbringing. Rick has been a strong supporter of President Trump, supporting his campaigns in 2020 and 2024. He has also supported legislation to empower Missouri to enforce immigration laws and sponsored bills to prevent illegal immigrants from getting jobs in our state.
Outside the Capitol, he owns a small construction company that has served the community for nearly two decades and tends a 40-acre farm. He and his wife, Athena, have five children: Mariah, Kayla, Rick, Garrett, and Hannah, and they recently welcomed their first grandchild. The Brattins are devoted Christians and members of Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit.
Now, he’s ready to take his proven conservative record to Washington and fight for Missouri values in the United States Congress.
